Snorkeling Safari
Your half-day adventure in the clear blue waters of Moorea’s lagoon
begins with a stop at Opunohu Bay, where the captain of the boat will
brief you on some of the islands legends, the geography, and the faun
and flora. Continuing on, stop by Sting Ray Paradise, where you can
discover a sting ray family that has settled in the area. A native guide
will jump in the water to feed them, and you have the choice to
participate or watch the show from the boat. From there, the boat will
cruise to the motu, where you can enjoy the tropical underwater world as
you snorkel. This excursion operates daily, year-round.
Wild Dolphin Watch
Dr. Michael Poole’s research team, from the Island Research Center
and Environmental Observatory, will take you on a morning boat tour to
observe and learn all about dolphins around the island of Moorea. You
will see schools of Spinner dolphins and learn about their remarkable
behaviors and social organization. From July through October, you may
also see the Pacific Humpback whale. As you enjoy the stunning beauty of
Moorea, you will receive insightful explanations on the natural and
geological creation of the island and motus. If time is available, you
will also have time to snorkel and discover the beautiful underwater
world. This half-day tour is available daily on Thursdays and Sundays.
Tahitian Feast at the Tiki Village
This evening excursion takes you to a picturesque Tiki Village by the
Lagoon of Haapiti. Here, the “old Tahiti” is depicted with its typical
pandanus thatched-roof houses. There are several little huts where
Polynesian women or men demonstrate mat weaving, Tiki carving, the
creation of flower leis and crowns. In this Polynesian Village of
Yesterday, enjoy a typical Polynesian buffet dinner featuring many
dishes cooked in the traditional ground oven, including roasted pig,
fish, chicken in Polynesian spinach, bread fruit, taro, and fei.
Barbecue chicken and beef, and different kinds of salad are also
available. During your dinner, a trio of musicians will perform,
followed by a spectacular dance show that tells the story of Tahitian
legends. The highlight of the evening is the fire performed by young
native men of Moorea. This excursion takes place year-round on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Circle Island Tour With Belvedere
This half-day tour begins with a visit to the village of Papetoai,
which was once the seat of the Pomare I government. Close to the
village, you can also see the tombs of the first missionaries. From
Belvedere, you will have a panoramic view over Opunohu and Cook’s Bay as
well as Mount Rotui. Your next stop is a pineapple plantation, where you
will learn about the famous and most important resource of Moorea. These
explanation are completed by a visit to a fruit juice and liquor
factory, where you can enjoy a free tasting of some of the products.
Your tour will also take you across the village of Maatea with its
charming houses covered with flowers. This tour is available year-round,
Monday – Saturday.
Dolphin Discovery at Dolphin Quest
Share a special dolphin discovery with your partner in this romantic
encounter. Together, you will have the thrill of meeting the dolphins
face-to-face, sharing a soft touch, and viewing their grace and beauty
underwater through a diving mask. This unique program includes dolphin
interaction, and educational component, a flower lei, and a photo for a
perfect memory of your honeymoon adventure. This mini excursion is
available daily, year-round.
Aito 4 x 4 Safari Tour
This half-day tour is dedicated to adventurers who want to discover
Moorea off the beaten path. Travel in a 4-wheel drive vehicle inside the
volcanic crater that first created the island. Along the way, discover
pineapple, vanilla, banana, grapefruit, and orange plantations and an
incredible unknown world inside the island. Your guide will explain
about Moorea’s agricultural school as well as educate you on the varied
flora and fauna that surround you. Afterwards, enjoy a soak in a natural
bathing tub. After, you will be ready for a touch of culture at the
marae (open air temple) before going up to the mountain to appreciate
the tremendous view over Cook’s and Opunohu Bays. Your next stop is the
Magic Mountain. You will reach the summit by a little path surrounded by
grapefruit, lemons, and oranges. The view from this location is on of
the most beautiful on the island. This safari expedition departs
year-round, Mondays – Saturdays.
Cook’s Bay Sunset Cruise
As another beautiful Polynesian day comes to a close, you will embark
on your sunset cruise. Board a motorized canoe for a cruise inside the
legendary Cook’s Bay. Enjoy the breathtaking colors of this romantic
moment with the strains of the famous Trio Liki Tiki band playing behind
you. As a finishing touch for this perfect moment, punch cocktails will
be offered to you. This special excursion is available year-round on
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Lagoon Cruise with Picnic
Discover the magnificent island of Moorea from the lagoon on this
half-day tour. Your first stop will be the breathtaking views of Opunohu
and Cook’s Bays. According to ancient legend, these bays were created by
a huge lizard’s tail. Indeed, Moorea means “yellow lizard.” During your
cruise, you will enjoy a Cococ and Pareo Show, which will teach you
about local fruits and how Polynesian pareos are tied. A stop will be
made in the blue waters of lagoon for snorkeling. Enjoy the beauties of
the underwater world before surfacing for a picnic lunch, prepared for
you on a motu. After lunch, you can relax on the beach under the shade
of the coconut trees before returning back to the hotel.
