Moorea Sightseeing Excursions and Island Activities

Optional sightseeing excursions and activities may be added to any Tahiti vacation package and hotel stays of 3 nights or more.

Snorkeling Safari

Your half-day adventure in the clear blue waters of Moorea’s lagoon begins with a stop at Opunohu Bay, where the captain of the boat will brief you on some of the islands legends, the geography, and the faun and flora. Continuing on, stop by Sting Ray Paradise, where you can discover a sting ray family that has settled in the area. A native guide will jump in the water to feed them, and you have the choice to participate or watch the show from the boat. From there, the boat will cruise to the motu, where you can enjoy the tropical underwater world as you snorkel. This excursion operates daily, year-round.

Wild Dolphin Watch

Dr. Michael Poole’s research team, from the Island Research Center and Environmental Observatory, will take you on a morning boat tour to observe and learn all about dolphins around the island of Moorea. You will see schools of Spinner dolphins and learn about their remarkable behaviors and social organization. From July through October, you may also see the Pacific Humpback whale. As you enjoy the stunning beauty of Moorea, you will receive insightful explanations on the natural and geological creation of the island and motus. If time is available, you will also have time to snorkel and discover the beautiful underwater world. This half-day tour is available daily on Thursdays and Sundays.

This evening excursion takes you to a picturesque Tiki Village by the Lagoon of Haapiti. Here, the “old Tahiti” is depicted with its typical pandanus thatched-roof houses. In this Polynesian Village of Yesterday, enjoy a typical Polynesian buffet dinner featuring many dishes cooked in the traditional ground oven, including roasted pig, fish, chicken in Polynesian spinach, bread fruit, taro, and fei. Barbecue chicken and beef, and different kinds of salad are also available. During your dinner, a trio of musicians will perform, followed by a spectacular dance show that tells the story of Tahitian legends. The highlight of the evening is the fire performed by young native men of Moorea. This excursion takes place year-round on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
