Experience the extreme encounter and face these legendary animals.
Enjoy an outrigger canoe tour around the island and witness shark and
ray feeding. You have the choice of viewing this from aboard the canoe
or you have the opportunity to see the Polynesian sting rays and
blacktip sharks while snorkeling in the warm crystalline waters just
over a beautiful coral reef, in a completely safe environment. This
half-day excursion provides you with a unique way to discover Bora
Bora’s lagoon and take advantage of a special photo opportunity with
these fantastic animals! This activity is available year-round, Monday –
Saturday beginning at 8:45 am and on Sundays in the afternoon hours.
Shark Watching, Lagoonarium and Motu Picnic
This full-day excursion begins as you board an outrigger canoe for an
amazing journey across Bora Bora’s Blue Lagoon. The lagoon is three
times the size of its land mass. The trip across the lagoon will provide
you with an incomparable array of colors. Continuing across the lagoon,
you will make a complete Circle Island Tour, enjoying the superb view of
Bora Bora’s mountains. Upon reaching a diving spot near the reef, your
guide will attract black tipped reef sharks with bait. This show can be
viewed in the boat or under the water, both in a completely safe
environment. The canoe’s next stop is on a coral garden, where it will
stop to allow you a chance to snorkel and discover the rich marine life
of this habitat. Later, disembark the canoe when you reach a private
motu, where the lagoonarium is located. Here, you will be served a
picnic lunch. In the natural environment of the lagoon, you will get the
perfect chance to swim in three separate enclosed pools and enjoy close
encounters with marine life, including sharks, rays, jackfish, turtles,
and parrot fish. Your expert guides will teach you how to carefully
approach and even handle these animals. At the Lagoonarium, tropical
fruits will be served, and you will also have the opportunity to learn
more about pareo tying. This full-day tour is offered year-round, Sunday
– Friday.
Helicopter Flightseeing
Discover the ‘Pearl of the Pacific” with a birds eye view. This breathtaking flight by helicopter over the island of Bora Bora provides commentary on the major points of interest. This tour comes in two varieties:
Lagoon Island Tour (15 min.): Discover Bora Bora’s lagoon, which is three times larger than its land mass. Open to the ocean by only one pass, the lagoon is enclosed on the east by motus and to the west by a reef. This breathtaking sight includes an incomparable range of lighting and shades of blue. The translucent lagoon tinged with myriad shades of blue is something you will remember forever.
Island Discovery Tour (30 min.): Take a circle island tour, enjoying the island of Bora Bora, its lagoon, and majestic mountains. The center of the island is dominated by Mounts Pahia and Otemanu, two towering volcanic peaks of shear black rock. This flight is spectacular for all ages and is especially nice for those who enjoy aerial photography.
This mini-excursion is available year-round, Monday – Saturday.
4-Wheel Drive Safari Adventure
Embark on your half-day excursion in a 4-wheel drive vehicle and
discover Bora Bora off the beaten path. As you travel, your guide will
introduce you to the rich flora, trees and the island’s way of life.
Start by driving through the small town of Vaitape on the shore of Pofai
Bay. Here you will ascend Panou Hill, where you will have a great view
of the island’s natural harbor and Matira beach. The second ascent will
lead you to the Coastal Defense Guns, still in their original World War
II locations. Travel along the northern shore of Bora Bora into the lush
valley of Faanui where, from a viewpoint high atop the mountain you will
have a breathtaking view of Faanui Bay. U.S. troops were stationed in
Faanui Village and Faanui Bay during the “Bobcat” Operation. The Bay was
chosen by the U. S. Navy as the most strategic location for a base. In
Faanui Village, visit a pareo workshop and a plantation where you will
find local fruits and flowers. This half-day excursion is available
year-round (except January 1), Monday – Saturday.
Aquasafari
Enjoy the sensation of being surrounded by hundreds of beautiful and
colorful tropical fish in just feet of water and in total security while
wearing an innovative viewing helmet. Your half-day excursion will begin
when you are picked up by a taxi boat at the dock of your hotel. You
will be taken to a catamaran where an instructor will help you with your
gear and assist you down the ladder. Walk underwater in the sand,
surrounded by the tropical fish – and you can even hand- feed them! When
you’ve seen enough, the dive master will assist you back onboard where
you can enjoy a refreshing beverage. This guided excursion is available
year-round, Sunday – Friday.
Circle Island Tour
Take a narrated tour along the 22-mile road that circles the
legendary island of Bora Bora. The famed “Le Truck” or minibus will
begin by driving past Farepiti, Faanui, and Anau with their mysterious
maraes (ancient temples), recalling a time when Polynesian gods and
idols were worshiped. As you drive along, marvel at the American naval
guns that serve as reminders of the South Pacific’s part in World War
II. As you travel on, you will discover Paopao Point and Matira Point
with their spectacular views. As you continue along the road, you will
pass groves of coconut palms and tiny villages hugging the shoreline.
This half-day tour operates year-round (except on public holidays),
Monday – Saturday.
