Featured Question

Dear Tahiti Travel Planners,

I know that Tahiti is a very popular destination for honeymooners, but we are traveling as a family.  Will our children be welcome at the hotels and in the islands?  Will we feel out of place?

- Cindy T., Ohio

Dear Cindy,

Since the islands of Tahiti and French Polynesia are a special getaway many people do consider their trip for significant occasions, such as a honeymoon or anniversary.  However, we count families, single travelers and groups among our clients.  You will find the more populous islands of Moorea, Bora Bora and Tahiti good choices for families, since there are more hotel and restaurant options and many activities appropriate for families. Specifically, we would recommend the Pearl Resort or InterContinental Resort on Moorea and the Le Meridien Resort and Bora Bora Lagoon Resort on Bora Bora. These resorts offer resort activties and attractions which are excellent for families including a dolphin center, a sea turtle sanctuary, snorkeling, and other water activities for all ages.

Recent Questions

Dear Tahiti Travel Planners,

My fiancée and I want to get married in Tahiti! How do we go about getting a license to do so? Can you help us plan our wedding?

-Lindsay B, Pennsylvania

Dear Lindsay,

Congratulations on your engagement! We are glad to help you put together a Tahiti wedding ceremony and provide you with pricing and options for the hotels in your package, as well as make arrangements for any family and friends who wish to travel with you. We offer a variety of Polynesian wedding ceremonies which range from simple vow ceremonies to elaborate day long celebrations.

In French Polynesia the Polynesian wedding ceremony is held for their romance and beauty. Please note that wedding ceremonies conducting in French Polynesia are not legal binding under French law. Couples intending to marry legally can do so at home and then exchange personal vows at one of these celebrations. At the present time, it is not possible to have a legal binding marriage ceremony in French Polynesia unless you have been a resident for 30 days.

Dear Tahiti Travel Planners,

We live in Florida and look forward to our trip to Tahiti next year.  Can you tell me about the flights from Miami to Bora Bora?  How soon do we need to book them?

- Peter S., Florida

Dear Peter,

At the present time all non-stop flights between the U.S. and French Polynesia depart from Los Angeles (Air Tahiti Nui, Air France, & Air New Zealand) or New York/JFK (Air Tahiti Nui).   Once you are in Tahiti then you will transfer and take a connecting flight (Air Tahiti) to Bora Bora.

Since the flight schedules are limited to these two departure cities the flights can book up several months in advance.  So, we advise that you place a booking at least 6 - 8 months before your intended travel dates; sooner if you have very specific accommodations and dates or if you are traveling during the high season - June - mid November.

Dear Tahiti Travel Planners,

We are planning our honeymoon to Tahiti and Bora Bora for June of next year. We would like to have many of our meals and excursions included in our honeymoon package, however, we are concerned with the cost. Do you have any budget saving tips or recommendations?

- Alexandra W., Toronto, Canada

Dear Alexandra,

Congratulations on your engagement! We would recommend setting up a Tahiti honeymoon registry a very popular option with today's honeymoon couples. Honeymoon couples may register for a variety of excursions, meals, spa treatments, and romantic services to compliment your honeymoon package. Honeymoon extras are available for purchase by friends and family online. Tahiti Travel Planners offers a honeymoon gift registry via our TahitiMoons Honeymoon website: www.tahitimoons.com You will find this is an excellent way to optimize your budget for your upcoming honeymoon.

Dear Tahiti Travel Planners,

We would like to travel to Moorea and Bora Bora during our vacation. We would like to spend time in an Overwater Bungalow on one of the islands. Would you recommend that we choose an Overwater Bungalow on Moorea or Bora Bora? We appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

- Kathleen G., Iowa

Dear Kathleen,

You will find that there are many options for Overwater Bungalows on both Moorea and Bora Bora. Moorea is known for its beautiful bays and lagoons with spectacular mountain scenery in the backdrop. You will find the rates for Overwater Bungalows on Moorea are priced at significantly lower than on Bora Bora. Bora Bora is known for it's pristine waters and offers some of the most beautiful and luxurious bungalows in French Polynesia. Depending on your budget or the types of amenities you would like to have in your bungalow, you will find the perfect overwater option on either island!
